Weekend fun

Two fun things from my weekend.

First, I learned how fat I really am. My friend invited us over for breakfast Sunday morning. During breakfast, her oldest daughter (almost 5) said to me, "Why is your belly so big?" Ah, if only I could use the pregnant excuse. Instead I told her honestly, "Because I am fat." Nothing like the honesty of a child.

Second, I came out to this on my car Sunday morning. Some former students came and showed me some love. They were even nice enough to keep it on the car windows. It was fun and creative of them. Not as creative as the time some students stole all the political "Vote For _____" signs in the neighborhood and put them in my yard. Or the time that my front door frame was Saran wrapped and then shredded paper between the Saran wrap and the door so that when I opened it, all the paper fell in my house. But still, this is part of the fun of being a teacher.

I'm thrilled so many people want to do "About me". I think we can have some real fun for this. I think to begin with we'll alternate every other week with doing something more recent in our history and something from our childhood. If you have ideas for topics, please email me! How about calling it "My life Monday"? I'll post the topic on Monday, you do it some time during the week if you want, and then let me know you did it so I can add you to a list. I'll post that list somewhere on my blog.

For our first "My life Monday", your topic is: My most memorable childhood experience. Ready? Set? Go!

That's *so* cute on your car! How fun to teach kids like that!

Also, I was thinking about you last week when I found this site: www.sparkpeople.com - it's totally re-inspired me on the healthy front.

How fun!

Great idea about the My Life Mondays. I think I'll start next week. I'm already skipping my to-do list just to read blogs.

I like that topic, but I have no idea what I'll write about. Thanks for giving us the week to think about it!

They must be great students. I was always afraid to let my kids know where I lived for that a bad grade given would result in a broken window or something. I suppose I was also worried about a little dropin on the weekend by some of the girls. I loved them, but not on the weekend.

You have my undying respect and admiration for teaching teenagers and enjoying it. I "own" three teenagers of my very own, and I can only say I white-knuckle it from day to day, and you VOLUNTEERED to go be with a pack of them...all day...every day! LOL You rock. I'll participate with your My Life Monday, but since it's almost Tuesday, I'll have to do it next week, see ya then!

The kids must totally love you to do that to your car. And I can't imagine why not! I bet you ROCK as a teacher.

And yay for My Life Monday. This first topic is hard for me though. I'm going to have to chew on it a while before I decide what to write.

Love the car and it's proof that you aren't actually going mad - that instead you are a great teacher! LOL You sure you don't want to move out East? I love the My life Monday - and I'll be joining in - in fact since I didn't read this until Tuesday my entry on my blog this week reads My belated Monday! LOL

I'd like to be a great teacher too someday. I would only hope that my students show me love with a box of donuts rather than graffiti on my car! Yikes!

Thanks for the MLM topic.

emlouisa told me I should check out your site and this My Life Monday thing. Sounds like a great idea! I'm very glad you're giving us a week to think about it because it will probably take me that long to come up with something.

Oh, you really had me laughing at the shredded paper ... I'm going to share that idea with the senior high youth that are graduating this year ... they can do this as a special "thank you" to their youth pastor.

LOL!!!
